INSTALLATION OF THE 496REB PUMP REPAIR KIT

       1)     REMOVE THE PUMP FROM THE BRACKET AND SAVE BOLTS

       2)     CLEAN PARTS AND WITH THE OLD IMPELLER  REMOVED TURN THE

                SHAFT AND FEEL THAT THE INTERNAL BEARINGS ARE SMOOTH

       3) BEG OR BORROW A SMALL BORE (2") PISTON  RING SQUEEZER.

       4)  DROP THE ROUND DISK INTO THE BOTTOM OF  THE PUMP BODY.

       5)  WITH THE IMPELLER CONTRACTED SMALLER THAN THE BODY SIZE WITH THE RING TOOL,

                THEN  LLIGN THE  LUBRICATED IMPELLER WITH THE SHAFT SPLINES AND PUSH IT  THROUGH

                THE RING  TOOL TIL IT HITS THE BOTTOM OF THE CAST PUMP BODY.

       6)    IMPORTANT:  TAKE THE REAR PLATE WITH THE WATER FITTINGS AND SAND THE DAMAGED

                SURFACE  WITH A SANDER BELT UNTIL THE DAMAGE IS ONLY HALF REMOVED, THE SURFACE

                DOES NOT  BE PERFECT BECAUSE  THE  IMPELLER DOES  NOT BE RUNNING ON THIS FACE.  

                THE  ONLY REASON TO SAND IT DOWN IS TO MAKE ROOM FOR THE NEW EXTRA PLATE AND

                GASKET WHICH  WILL BE LOCATED BETWEEN  THE BODY SIDES.  

                IF YOU WANT TO CHECK  HOW FAR TO SAND THE PLATE JUST PUT  PRE ASSEMBLED  BOTH

                SIDES TOGETHER WITHOUT THE IMPELLER  BUT WITH  PLATE AND GASKET  BETWEEN PUMP

                PARTS AND HOLD COMPLETE PUMP AGAINST   THE BRACKET AND CHECK SIDE ALLIGNMENT. 

                THE SIDE  BOLT SHOULD GO EASILY INTO THE THREADS.

     7)        GLUE THE 'O' RING AND PLACE THE GASKET  WITH THE PLATE AND TIGHTEN                 TOGETHER

     8)        COMPLETE THE ASSY.
