ON THE REAR OF EVERY MERCRUISER THERE IS A MOUNT BOLT KIT.

THE SEQUINCE IS ALWAYS QUESTIOINED.

THE ANSWER IS AS FOLLOWED.

THE BOLT PASSES THROUGH THE SOLID FLAT METAL WASHER AND THEN A METAL SPACER.

THIS ASSEMBLY PASSES THROUGH THE REAR RUBBER MOUNT PRESSED INTO THE REAR BELL HOUSING (FLYWHEEL COVER) ON BOTH SIDES.

THE WASHER IS AN UPPER LIMIT FOR TRAVEL OF THE MOROR AS  BOUNCING ON THE LIVE MOUNT.  THE SPACER HOLDS UP THE WASHER TO ALLOW THE TRAVEL UPWARD BY THE MOUNT FLEXING.

BELOW THE RUBBER MOUNT THERE IS A DOUBLE  LOCKWASHER OR SPRING. THE BOLT ASSY AFTER PASSING THROUGH THE MOUNT GOES THROUGH THE SPRING  WASHER THEN DROPS INTO THE HOLE IN YOUR INNER TRANSOM PLATE.

THE WASHER WHEN COMPRESSED ACTS AS A SPACER TO HOLD THE MOTOR TO THE PROPER HEIGHT FOR ALLIGNMENT BY KEEPING THE CENTER OF THE ENGINE COUPLER TO THE CENTER OF THE OUTDRIVE SHAFT.

A FIBER WASHER FITS AROUND THE SPRING WASHER AND ONLY SERVES A SHOCK IF THE MOTOR FLEXES TOO LOW TO PREVENT METAL TO METAL CONTACT.

AFTER THE BOLT PASSES THROUGH THE INNER TRANSOM PLATE THE NUT COMES FROM THE BOTTOM AND THE ASSEMBLY IS TIGHTENED WITH A 3/4 SOCKET FROM TOP.

AFTER PROPER INSTALLATION THE MOTOR VIBRATES BETWEEN THE METAL AND FIBER WASHERS, WITH A GAP ON TOP AND BOTTOM TO ALLOW THE MOTION.  IF THE GAP IS MISSING ON THE TOP OR BOTTOM THE VIBRATION OF THE MOTOR IS FELT THROUGH THE BOAT.
