Help BRAVO V-BELT PUMP Merc I/O.

    Starting with the TRS and TR drives, or any drive which stopped out of gear, Mercruiser

    used a belt driven pumps.  They all started as  v-belt and came as a two piece housing

    around the impeller, recently replaced with one  piece housing...

    Impeller kits are 1) impeller and o-ring, 2) kit  plus wear plate ,or 3) kit with plastic housing.

    The shaft lasts well but the bearings, seals, and snap ring are available when wet.

    When the impeller fails, the replacement is a simple task. If you remove the belt & pulley,

    the hoses removed in the rear (notice which is input),  the bracket loosens with two screws

    and pump slips out of the bracket for repair.

    Note if the boat is in the water, the input hose may  have to be pluged,  and if any blades are      missing, back flushing reequired, to recover ppieces. An early serpentine pump works the     same,   

The 496 pump is a different animal.
