LEAK DOWN OF TRIM RAMS

LEAKDOWN OVER NIGHT OR EVEN FASTER IS EITHER AN INTERNAL

RAM PROBLEM, ALEAKING HOSE OR A PUMP PROBLEM

 

THE EASIEST COMPONENT IS THE HOSES BECAUSE MOST LEAKS ARE

CLEAR TO SEE IF UNDER PRESSURE OIL SPRAYS.  IF THE FLARE FITTINGS AT THE

END OF THE HOSES ARE NOT AS EASY.  TRY TO TWIST THE CONNECTIONS

BECAUSE IF THEY ARE LEAKING YOU CAN USUALLY ROTATE IN THE FITTING.

 

THE SECOND SECTION IS THE RAMS  THE EASIEST TEST REQUIRES SPECIAL PLUGS

WHEN A NEW CYLINDER COMPLETE OR SHELL FOR THE RAMS ARE SHIPPED,

THEY COME WITH A PLUG TO KEEP PAINTOR DIRT FROM THE THREADS.  

IF A DEALER GIVES OR LENDS A PAIR OF PLUGS YOU CAN TEST

YOUR RAMS.  TRIM THE DRIVE UP AND BLOCK IT UP.  REMOVE THE HOSES FROM ONE RAM AND

PUT PLUGS IN THE HOLES THEN DROP THE BLOCKS 

SO THE WEIGHT FALLS ON THE PLUGED RAM. THE RAM SHOULD SUPPORT THE

WEIGHT ALL NIGHT. AND IF IT FELL IT HAS AN INTERNAL LEAK.

THE RAM MUST BE REBUILT.  REPEAT THE OTHER RAM.

 

IF THE HOSES ARE GOOD AND THE RAMS PASS THE PUMP IS THE PROBLEM.  WE SELL RAM KITS

BUT NO PUMP REBUILD KITS. THEY NEEDS MERC KIT.
