    The 496, the serpentine, or the gen 7, or the all brass pump the latest pump for Mercruiser.

    if you have this pump you will like the way  it works, however when the impeller fails,

    the removal is harder than the old BRAVO  v belt pumps.

    As long as the pump does not ingest sand or other abrasive substances,l the simple impeller

    kit can be used. Sold as IM496.

THE DANGER EXISTS HOWEVER THAT  SAND PASSING THROUGH GETS STUCK

in the area between the impeller end and case or housing.  The impeller imbeded with sand

digs circular groves on each end causing a  trench at the ends for water to bypass the blades

of the impeller. The effect is a low performance and low water flow.  Our kit IM496REB will

 replace the worn surfaces and repair the pump.
