THE IM496REB REPAIR KIT FOR THE BELT DRIVEN BRASS PUMP USED FOR THE 496 MERCRUI FOR GEN 7 ENGINES HAS SPECIAL FEATURE THAT ANY OTHER KIT MAY BE AVAILABLE CAN COPY.  WHEN THE KIT IS INSTALLED IN THE BROKEN DAMAGED PUMP THE PUMP ASSEMBLY IS NOT ALTERED IN ITS OUTSIDE DEMENTIONS.  THERE IS NO INSTRUCTIONS HOW TO GRIND THE BRACKET TO ALLOW TO REINSTALL THE PUMP ASSEMBLY.  OURS WILL FIT RIGHT WHERE IT

WAS BEFORE THE JOB STARTED.

         INSIDE THE PUMP DEVELOPES DEEP GOUVES IN THE PUMP BODY OR  HOUSING ON THE ENDS INTERNALLY WHERE SAND GETS STUCK IN THE ENDS OF THE IMPELLER WHICH BECOMES  LIKE SANDPAPER WHICH GRINDS THE INSIDE OF THE PUMP CAUSING A GROUVE WHICH BYPASSES THE IMPELLER BLADES WITCH LOWERS THE WATER PRESSURE TO THE ENGINE AND THEN OVERHEATING RESULTS.

     THE FACTORY THOUGHT IF THE IMPELLER IS SHORTENED  JUST A FEW THOUSANADS, THE PRESSURE WOULD BE REDUCED AND THE RESULTING CLEARANCE MIGHT ALLOW THE SAND BE EJECTED AND REMOVE THE ABRASIVE PROBLEM.  THE PRONLEM HOWEVER IS THE

REDUCED LENGTH CAUSES A LOWER PRESSURE IN A PERFECT HOUSING AND SERIOUS LOWER WITH LIGHTLY DAMAGED HOUSING.

     THE ANSWER IS THE  IM496REB KIT WHICH DOES NOT REQUIRE

SERIOUS GRINDING TO REINSTALL THE PUMP AND PROVIDES FULL PRESSURE.  IF A RENEWING OF THE IMPELLER IN THE DISTANT FUTURE
